Elevator maintenance workshop license − Register

  1. The elevator maintenance workshop license is granted to those who have this right in accordance with the applicable provisions for the classification of electrical and mechanical installations, as well as the protection of professional rights.
  2. For the granting of a lift maintenance workshop permit, an application from the responsible maintainer or the legal entity to which the natural person is affiliated is submitted to the Development Directorate of the Prefectural Government, where the permanent headquarters of the Workshop is located, accompanied by the following:

(a) The original professional licenses of the person in charge and the members who staff the mobile teams.

(b) The books to be reviewed provided for in items a and b of paragraph 7 of article 6.

(c) Lists of maintained elevators, paginated (in duplicate in printed form or in electronic form), in which the elevators will be listed in the same manner as in the Book – Register.

(d) Solemn declarations, certified as authentic, of the signature of the members of the mobile workshops, stating that they are exclusively engaged in the maintenance of elevators.

(e) Solemn declaration of Law 1599/1986 of the person in charge of the workshops stating:
i. that it is exclusively engaged in the maintenance of elevators,
ii. that it has the appropriate equipment for the maintenance of the elevators as listed in the attached statements for consideration,
iii. that his auxiliary staff and members of his crews are insured with IKA or another insurance organization.
iv. the headquarters of his crews and the telephone – telephone operator.

If the person in charge of the workshops has the right to also carry out elevator installations, he must declare this in the aforementioned responsible declaration, as well as that he will employ only the surplus personnel from maintenance in the installation work, with a reference to them by name in accordance with paragraph 6 of article 5.

  1. The competent service of the Prefectural Government checks the above supporting documents and grants a lift maintenance workshop license, in accordance with the above, while considering the aforementioned books and statements. The above license must be renewed every 5 years by the same Service.
  2. In cases of withdrawal of members of the maintenance teams, they must notify the person in charge twenty (20) days before receiving their professional license so that they can be replaced in a timely manner. In the event that the withdrawn members of the mobile teams are not replaced within thirty (30) days at the latest or the number of elevators maintained is not modified accordingly, the license of the elevator maintenance team is revoked or the sanctions provided for herein are imposed on the person in charge of the Team.
  3. A register is kept in the competent Development Directorate of the Prefectural Government with the licenses of elevator maintenance workshops. A file is kept in the register that includes the following:
    a) The elevator maintenance workshop license and the original professional licenses of the person in charge and the members who staff the mobile workshops. In the event that the maintainer has a higher education, a copy of his registration in the registers of the Development Service of the local Prefectural Government is submitted.

b) The reports of the elevators maintained by this workshop in printed or electronic form.

c) The responsible declarations of Law 1599/1986 on the assumption and waiver of maintenance.

d) Any acts of imposition of sanctions and other relevant information.

  1. If maintenance is carried out in an area other than the permanent headquarters of the maintenance workshop, copies of the registration details, the certificate of the inspection body, the operating permit, as the case may be, and the solemn declaration of case c) of paragraph 5, are sent ex officio to the Prefectural Government service that maintains the relevant register.
  2. Without prejudice to paragraph 4 of article 5, the elevator maintenance workshop license may also be granted to a legal entity, provided that it has legally licensed personnel who are linked to it by a legally proven employment relationship. The beneficiaries are specified in paragraph 1 of article 7 and paragraph 4 of article 5 hereof.
  3. Elevator maintenance workshop licenses that have been granted to legal entities that have a responsible maintenance person in their force, continue to be valid until their expiration date. After expiration, the requirements of this document shall be complied with.
  4. Public documents kept in the register are issued in accordance with article 16 of Law 1599/86 as in force at any time.
